Bridgend County Borough Council

“Thanks to EMC and eZ publish, we now have two websites under the full control of staff who have no background in websites or programming and who needed no formal training.”
- Chris Howell, Bridgend County Borough Council

As with all EMC’s public sector projects, the key to winning the Bridgend contract was to use Open Source Software (OSS) to fulfil the customer brief as tightly as possible. Bridgend simply wanted two solid, simple to maintain websites that were content managed - allowing non-technical staff to maintain and update information for constituents and other interested parties.

EMC won out over a dozen other vendors by offering a supported implementation of the proven eZ publish  enterprise content management system (CMS). The two new sites, for the Children’s Information Service and the Regeneration Funding Team, simply work: providing two attractive, functional websites which can be updated by staff without the need for technical knowledge or even formal training. Council staff were amazed by the intuitive functionality and user-friendliness of this new generation of enterprise OSS products.

The powerful eZ publish software has also provided Bridgend with a future-proof solution, capable of supporting almost any conceivable future requirements. Ongoing support and evolution of the product is assured by one of the most active OSS communities in the space. The result: An instant order for a further site for the Council’s Community Safety Partnership.
